Red One - Press Toolkit

Assets with fur arrived as full grooms. Using Houdini, I optimized the grooms for our pipeline and generated my own simulation guides. By the end of the project, I collaborated with the tech team to automate guide simulation and groom processing.

This was my favorite spot we worked on for the Red One toolkit. Using assets received from various VFX houses I was tasked with creating this forced perspective add for the LG billboard in Time Square. Working out the logistics was a fun challenge

While I ran all of the fur simulations for this project. Here are a few of my favorites.

Some of the shots I had the chance to run some FX simulations on, as well as Lighting and Comp.

In addition to lighting and comp, I also generated these particle simulations for the reindeer magic. A unique challenege because of their speed.

Red One - Press Toolkit

The Red One press toolkit was a fun project that came with a number of technical challenges. At the time, the studio had limited VFX experience at this scale and no established hair simulation pipeline. After initial testing, we decided to transition our hair workflow to Houdini, and I was responsible for ensuring we could both simulate and render shots while meeting the client’s weekly delivery quotas.

In addition to my other look development tasks, working closely with the tech department, I focused on storage management, optimization, and the development of new pipeline tools. Together, we built a hair simulation pipeline that could automatically run simulations, allowing us to efficiently deliver multiple shots each week.
